The 5 most beautiful places to see in Benissa

If you feel like relaxing for a few days between the sea and the mountains, Benissa is the destination for you: a charming village in the heart of the Marina Alta which will surprise you at every step.

You will discover its old town with a marked medieval character which will take you through its history from the Middle Ages to the present day.

1. The historic centre of Benissa

In the historic centre of Benissa you will find the Calle Puríssima, a typical medieval street full of history and with monuments and buildings of great value. On the route along this street you will see manor houses with barred balconies.

2. Puríssima Xiqueta Church

Another thing to see in Benissa is the Puríssima Xiqueta church also known as Catedral de la Marina. It is a neo-Gothic building with three naves and a central dome and altar of outstanding beauty.

3. Sierra de Bèrnia

Sierra de Bèrnia, immense natural wall that separates the Marina Alta from the Marina Baja with a beautiful circular walking route. It has the unique feature that from the path you have to cross the mountain through a natural tunnel dug into the stone, which leads to a place with magnificent views of the Costa Blanca coastline and the valleys and mountains of the Mediterranean. The Sierra de Bèrnia is one of the most important places to see in Benissa and you cannot miss it if you are a nature lover.

 

4. Paseo ecológico

Paseo ecológico, beautiful ecological family walking route consisting of two itineraries, south and north with a total of almost 4 kilometres. It has magnificent views of the small coves with crystal clear water and you can feel the sea breeze. Additionally, this ecological walk connects Benissa and Calpe along the coast while offering wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea and being one of the most beautiful places to see in Benissa.


5. La Fustera

La Fustera is a beautiful sandy beach dominated by majestic Posidonia meadows where you can see contrasts between nature and the sea. Nearby is the "Cova de la Fustera", a 10 metres high cave, from which you have a magnificent view of both the Benissa coastline and the Peñón de Ifach Rock.
